NY Highways and North Yorkshire Council’s Area 7 highways team would like to thank our partner, RJC Plant Services Ltd, for going above and beyond during recent stormy weather.
Following flooding on the B1222 Cawood Straight and C310 Kelfield to Mount Pleasant in the Selby area, RJC were called by NY Highways to clear the roads, with grab lorries, telehandlers, and sweepers requested to complete the work.
While the NY Highways GMU teams got to work with clearing out the gullies and cleaning the road signs, RJC showed they were efficient and hardworking, clearing both roads in only two days and helping us to keep disruption to the public to a low.
During the two-day operation, RJC used the following resources:
- 6 x grab lorries used over the two days
- 17 x loads of debris were moved by the grab lorries, with the loads totalling around 270 tonnes
- 1 x telehandler used per day
- 6 x sweepers were used over the two days, with 24 loads removed by the sweepers totalling 168 tonnes
Once the work had been completed by RJC, NY Highways removed the road closures and diversion routes, reopening the roads back to the public.
RJC were crucial in getting the two routes open as quickly as possible, with their hard work and diligence allowing us to reduce disruption to motorists and to keep the network moving after the recent flooding events.
