NY Highways welcomes the Minister for Roads and Local Transport to Skipton

Jan 9, 2024

Guy Opperman MP, Minister for Roads and Local Transport, visited the Skipton Highways Depot on Friday 5 January, where he met with colleagues from NY Highways and North Yorkshire Council’s highways department.

As well as visiting the depot, the minister also wanted to see how a pothole is repaired, and was shown a live repair on Kirk Lane, Embsay.

The purpose of the visit was to understand how the £9m of additional highways funding from the government will benefit North Yorkshire and its residents. More information on the funding is available here: £9m extra to be invested in North Yorkshire’s roads | North Yorkshire Council

The minister was impressed with the efficiency and dedication of the team, and also delighted to receive a NY Highways branded notebook and pen from Ross Turner.

Thank you to all the staff involved for making the visit a success!
