NY Highways is proud to announce its membership of The 5% Club, a dynamic movement of employers committed to increasing the number of ‘earn and learn’ opportunities across the UK.
By joining, we are reinforcing our dedication to investing in the future of North Yorkshire’s infrastructure through apprenticeships, graduate roles, and other training pathways.
This initiative aligns with our long-term strategy to build a resilient, skilled workforce capable of delivering high-quality highways services across the region.
Through our involvement in The 5% Club, NY Highways aims to demonstrate the value of nurturing local talent and supporting inclusive economic growth. We believe that a well-trained workforce is key to delivering safer, more efficient roads and enhancing service delivery for residents and road users alike.
Currently, 8.3% of NY Highways’ workforce is undertaking an apprenticeship—well above The 5% Club’s benchmark.
This achievement highlights our proactive approach to workforce development and our commitment to creating meaningful career pathways across the region.
Jamie Crumlish, Managing Director of NY Highways, said:
“Here at NY Highways, we invest in apprenticeships because we believe in growing talent from the ground up—nurturing potential, building skills, and shaping the future together. This is demonstrated by the six apprentices we’ve taken on this year, bringing the total to 20 within the business in 2025.”
Gill Cronin, Director of Operations of The 5% Club, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome NY Highways into membership. The 5% Club provides a fantastic network of HR and L&D professionals, sharing and learning from each other. All our members share an ethos of creating a skilled workforce through ‘earn and learn’ development programmes, helping people develop meaningful career paths.”
