After a nine-month project to ensure processes and procedures were implemented, the new Integrated Management System (IMS) team at NY Highways have achieved their first goal – gaining accreditation to ISO standards 45001, 14001 & 9001.
Having Health & Safety, Environment and Quality as priorities, the ISO accreditations were critical for future growth at NY Highways, with the this being one of the key business plan targets.
The IMS team consists of Elisabete Moreira (Performance Analyst and IMS Advisor), Yvette Clayson (IMS Coordinator), Tariq Anwar (HSE Advisor) and Richard Whitaker (Business Manager). For the audit, they were assisted by specialist consultant Fenn Environmental.
Having spent much of the year writing and organising policies, procedures and processes with colleagues before rolling them out, the audits to gain ISO accreditation took place in December.
The success of the audit demonstrates the hard work the NY Highways workforce have put in and the high standards we maintain in the business.
Jamie Crumlish, NY Highways’ Managing Director, commented:
“The hard work and commitment put into achieving certification to Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety standards is something that all within NY Highways can be very proud of. The attainment of certification will allow NY Highways to conduct its activities in a controlled, coordinated and compliant manner, providing a platform for continual improvement and growth of the business.
“A special thanks goes to the IMS team and all of our colleagues that were involved in the audit process. Thank you and well done!”
