Inspiring the Next Generation of Highways Professionals
In July, NY Highways welcomed a group of young people from High Tide Foundation for an interactive careers visit, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the diverse range of roles involved in maintaining and improving our region's roads and infrastructure.
During the visit, representatives from our operations, fleet management, commercial services and property maintenance departments shared their experiences and expertise, helping the group understand the wide variety of rewarding careers available across NY Highways.
The group also had the opportunity to see first-hand the specialist vehicles and equipment that NY Highways use to help maintain the region’s road network and ensure it is safe and running efficiently every day.
As part of the experience, our team shared insights into apprenticeship opportunities and career pathways within the industry, as well as practical advice on CV writing and employability skills.
The visit highlighted the breadth of opportunities available within the highways sector and demonstrated that NY Highways is about much more than highways construction and maintenance projects.
We were pleased to showcase the varied range of rewarding careers available at NY Highways and hope the visit inspired attendees to consider a future with us.
